Great shout. He was actually one of my fave fighters as a youngster, as you say though that defeat definitely hastened a decline.

Saying Cooney could have been an ATG is stretching it,he had zero defence ,his head didnt move,no right hand ,and didnt take a shot too well.Cooney had a great left hook ,thats it,he had neither the technique ,nor the desire to be a great fighter ,let alone an ATG.

I said he didn't have the heart. With his size and power alone, he could have made it. we never knew how good he could be, because he declined after the Holmes fight. If he had a real trainer, who knows how his career would have went.

Yeah, Duran finished him. I thought the ref (and his own corner) was unbelievably callous. I don't like watching that fight, to be honest.

It could be argued that Gomez was on the decline before his first loss. He struggled to make featherweight as you already know despite being the fighter moving up. The Sanchez loss just made it all clear, p.s Sanchez beats Gomez 10/10 IMO anyway.

It would be interesting to see how Rocky Marciano would have rebounded from a major loss.

That is a bit of an unknow.

I don't believe Taylor wasn't the same, I believe the reason he appeared a different fighter was because of his moving up in weight. What little power he had was pretty much rendered obsolete. He still managed to defeat a decent fighter in Aaron Davis, but he never had much hope at the higher weights, especially 154. Lou Duva made a huge mistake letting him take on Terry Norris. Taylor also made a huge mistake wearing them God awful 'trunks' into the ring that night.

Michael Dokes. After that loss to Coetzee, the drugs REALLY kicked in and never was the same fighter afterwards, despite his later sucess.

Good pick. The Chavez fight ruined Taylor.

He may have been mildy declining pre Sanchez, but i think myself he was close to peak. The Sanchez weight probs were apparently a case of miscalculation due to fighting at a higher weight and thinking he would have no problems.

Moore was a fighter who clearly wasn't ready. He was a good fighter, but was out of his element with an old pro like Duran. He took a serious beating.
