Looking for names who you never really hear bad things about outside the ring and were or are approachable?

    From my experience:-

    Barry Mcguigan
Michael Watson ( before and after the tragedy )
    Ernie Shavers
    Charlie Magri
Gary Mason ( really genuine and allround nice guy R.I.P )

I have met a fair few others over the years, including some very big names but the above seemed more like old friends if you get my drift.

    Who you got?

Met Henry Cooper very genuine , nice fella.

I sat behind Lloyd Honeyghan at the fights,, he always struck me as a flash kid , but a couple of fans came over and asked for his autograph , he could not have been more gracious ,even thanking them for asking.
Duke McKenzie and Boza Edwards are real nice guys.

Paul Spadafora was super nice. Cory Spinks too. Leon was hilarious. Holyfield seemed a bit conceited and Mayweather was a dick.

Saw Chris Eubank at a sports show about 20 years ago, seemed like a nice enough fella.

Almost all of them that I've met. I think a more pertinent question (and a smaller list) would be the fighters who WEREN'T nice. I don't mean just catching them in a bad mood or on a bad day, but guys who are known to be consistently not nice.

Sugar Ray Leonard was less than nice when I met him, which is consistent with almost everything I've heard about the guy.

Archie Moore was a curmudgeon. He could be softened up if you took the time. But on approach I found him surly. Kinda like the Henry Fonda character in "On Golden Pond". A coarse outside but a soft interior.

I met all the following and found them to be great guys:
    Alexis Arguello (duh)
    Willie Pep
    Shane Mosley
    Michael Moorer
    Thomas Hearns
    Billy Soose
    Henry Armstrong
    Jimmy McLarnin
    Al Hostak
    Julian Jackson
Lou Nova (this guy was a barrel of monkeys! Loved him)
    Ike Williams (knew him well)
    Jimmy Carter
    Joe Brown
    Nicolino Locche
    Ismael Laguna
    Carmen Basilio
    Gene Fullmer
Bob Foster (in a quiet, dangerous kinda way)
    Harold Johnson
Clarence Henry (who challenged me by asking "Do you even know who I am?" When I said his name he grinned, pleased to be remembered)
    Cleveland Williams
    Ernie Terrell
    Carlos Ortiz
    Danny Lopez
    Carlos Zarate
    Barry McGuigan
    Earnie Shavers
Michael Dokes (like Foster, friendly but quiet and dangerous)
    Vito Antuofermo (ditto)
    Mike Weaver
    Jerry Quarry
    Mike Quarry
    Kid Azteca
    Paul Pender
Fighting Harada (you could tell he considered all the attention a great honor. Wonderful guy)

    I'll think of more.....

Kind of surprised to hear that about Honeyghan. Fair do's to him for that.

Did you ever meet genaro Hernandez? I met him twice and he was a great guy. A friend had a son that boxed and Hernandez always went out of his way to be friendly towards the young man, show him things, encourage him. Mike Weaver and Shane Mosley are both good guys. I had the pleasure of sitting next to Weaver at an amateur show 15 or so years ago.

Azumah Nelson, Armando muniz and Carlos palomino. The first time I met Yori Campos he tried to charge me $5 to say hello to him. A decade later he was a pretty good guy.
