Alas, no. I was a 16 year old kid up visiting cousins and having fun in Medford, Oregon. Watched the boxing whenever it was on though. Whitaker was my fav and I predicted big things for him. I was glad to see that come true.

Hey Wass, I'm sure your tongue is in your cheek on that one. :D
Name another fighter, who on a few occasions, helped fighters up after knocking them down. Or a fighter who layed off a cut eye and went to body shots after opening the gash, or who went to help a fighter he had just KTFO! Floyd may well be at the top of the list! :good

Yeah it was tongue in cheek but I can't help but laugh at the thought of Patterson putting on his Groucho glasses complete with moustache. :rofl:rofl:rofl

All of my experiences have been good ones.

Tommy Hearns was a real gentleman. One of the nicest pro athletes I've ever met. Iran Barkley was nice as well. I briefly met Muhammad Ali. He didn't have long to talk to me, and I had trouble hearing him, but he signed an autograph for me and seemed like a nice guy. Frazier and Foreman were good guys also. I met Bernard Hopkins at a signing in Philadelphia. He seemed kinda full of himself, but was a decent guy, and chatted with me for a little while.

Surf bat... is the centre where they had the boxing (think it was called The L.A.Memorial centre ? Still there..? ) It was very close to the Coliseum main stadium if i recall correctly.
I hear L.A. is trying for the games again in 2024.
Ps...sorry to go off thread guys.

Someone I know met Hasim Rahman when he was here to fight Lewis the first time. Apparently he was just waking in a mall with some guys and nobody recognised him. From what I heard, a super nice and humble guy, very courteous and polite. Seemed almost embarrassed at being recognised by someone.

Which is weird, because he seemed pretty arrogant when he was champ. Maybe success just went to his head or something.
