Lennox Lewis vs Oliver McCall 1.
McCall apparently asked Emmanuel Steward something like ‘What are my advantages’ and Steward said ‘Nothing, that’s why you have to fight the perfect fight’ and so he did with perfect timing.
What other examples can you name of fighters winning when they were outmatched in every athletic/physical department, power, speed, size, height and reach etc.

McCall had the durability advantage. Lewis' durability is underrated by his detractors but McCall has one of the great chins. It was that advantage that got McCall home, as well as the career stage Lewis was at. Hearns - Barkley was decided by chin. Chin can be a huge advantage and has won hundreds of fights, thousands even.

Lewis - Rahman would fit better for mine.

Randy Turpin didn't have too many advantages over SRR.

Ricardo Mayorga had no business beating a guy like Vernon Forrest but somehow he did it twice. Some will say that Mayorga was the better puncher but I disagree. Vernon had a long amateur pedigree, size, speed and going into that fight, a 90 percent ko rate. Mayorga was a tough but sloppy fighter that was usually off balance when he punched and he didn't have much boxing IQ. He simply outslugged a far superior opponent.

Buddy McGirt probably quite a few times in lots of different ways but never totally.

I dont think theres a perfect example of this, if youre inferior in every way then you will be beaten 100% of the time. Every fighter at the top level usually has some advantage over the other. Even your example of McCall vs Lewis doesnt work, McCall is more durable than Lewis by far

This is also an insane statement, I dont think Marciano ever mixed it up at the top level with anyone who was physically stronger, more durable, better conditioned or harder in punching than him.

    I agree

    A few of my picks:

Braddock vs Baer (only because Baer was ****ing around, to be fair)
    Louis vs Schmeling 1
    Bowe vs Holyfield 2

Frankie Warren-Buddy McGirt (first fight) is a good example of this IMO. I thought McGirt was better in every category, but Warren just swarmed him, and McGirt seemed willing to stay inside and trade with him way too much. He did correct that in the rematch though.

Very reasonable picks, quite good actually.

I'm half expecting some to name past prime examples, maybe along the lines of Holmes - Spinks or events where one fighter wasn't himself. something akin to Curry - Honeyghan or a sudden overnight decline akin Chandler - Sandoval.

Carlos Baldomir against Zab Judah is the first that springs to mind for me.

Leonard was younger, bigger, faster, more schooled, and by virtue of his size, harder hitting than Duran.

Marciano was probably the best conditioned fighter of his time and whooped on old men

This is the one which first came to my mind. Forrest was riding high as well, after twice defeating Mosley.
