Fighters who were scum

Holmes comes across as more of an ass when it comes to the media/interviews, but from what I know of him, seems like a decent guy away from that.

I haven’t heard any stories of him abusing women, which we sadly hear about all the time with fighters. He’s still with the same wife of 40+ years. I haven’t heard anything about him having kids on the side or constantly screwing around on her, unlike a lot of other great HW champs (Johnson, Louis, Marciano, Ali, Tyson, Holyfield)

The Nick Tosches book said that he sexually assaulted some women. I don’t know how reliable that is, as that book also claims Archie Moore went in the tank against Rocky Marciano.

I hope it’s not true.

That book also went into a long and graphic description on the size of Sonny’s manhood. Did he really need to write about that?

 

It was a facetious remark to highlight how ugly the sports image is, by way of how replete the ranks are with sh!theads big & small.

 

Fair enough if that’s your take, I can agree insofar as I’d rather he was hurt away from the sport, but not to the point where I wouldn’t want to see what happened to him, happen. Death was too good for McClellan.

 

To those calling me out on Holmes, in no way am I calling him a scumbag. Just noting that even a cleanskin like him seemingly has to be an unrelenting d!ck & sourpuss in all his interviews. My exasperation at the knowledge this is almost as good as it gets in our sport.

 

Where do you come up with any basis for saying Dempsey raped many young girls ? The stories were we bounced at some brothels and that may have validity but unless you're for the defense of his ex-wife Maxine Cates to make such a claim is flat out slander. Again where is your basis for this ?

 

Monzon went to jail for beating his wife to death then tossing her body off a cliff. I'd say that's scummy.

 

Or maybe the polite mama's boy who talks about jesus and does ring walks to gospel music, but then goes and has like 19 kids with 18 different women?

Note -- neither Holmes nor Holyfield are scum. Just funny examples of "about as good as it gets for this sport".

What happened to the version where the pair of them (Monzon and Muniz) had a violent domestic, with both falling from a second-floor balcony?

 

That’s what happened so far as I’ve known. Never heard a cliff or a fatal beating being involved.

 

Apparently my memory sucks. As per google, it appears he beat her half to death, she fell off a balcony and died, he purposely jumped/fell off the balcony too to make it seem like an accident.
