Keywords "in the ring," meaning men like Ibeabuchi and Ayala don't apply, whereas an elite heavyweight like Oliver McCall does.

Not really mentally unhinged, probably more of a confidence issue, but Joe Bugner and Fres Oquendo always seemed to find a way to lose the big ones. Ken Norton, too, for that matter (except Ali 1).

Oliver McCall was mentally fragile, remember the rematch with Lennox Lewis, he began to pout and cry during that bout. It was a very sad thing to see but fighters are human beings also, not immune to the tragedies of mental illness. Mike Tyson as great as he was, suffered from mental illness as well, it was well documented that he was prescribed medications by his physician during his championship years. He happened to be human as well, no shame in that but mental illness can be tragic in many instances, especially if it goes untreated, like Diabetes for example. It is an affliction that can happen to anyone, it is a shame that it happens but we can hope for the best for those afflicted by it.

In your opinion, did Bummy Davis not become champ because of a fragile mentality?

Chan-Hee Park was one of the oddest damned boxers I've ever laid eyes on, just a walking collection of idiosyncrasies. In the ring he'd be posing, darting his eyes around, touching his butt, twitching... you could be forgiven for thinking the man was a crack addict. Yet he was good enough to decisively outbox Miguel Canto, one of the finest technicians in the sport's history.

When Park fought Shoji Oguma there were times when he'd literally run away after a shot to the body. In the first fight, he was doing well in the first round and for some reason adopted this exaggerated fighting stance to play to the crowd. Oguma, on the other hand, got the advantage and reacted by jamming his forearm into Park's teeth and ragdolling him around the ring, doing whatever it took to keep the momentum. Clear difference in mentality there.

Then you have the third fight, when in the fifteenth round Park stuck his head between Oguma's legs in a clinch. That's weird enough as is, but, when Oguma responded by pounding on his ribs like a man trying to knock down a door, Park ran to his corner and looked like he was going to walk out of the ring right there. This in the fifteenth round of a close fight.

Not that I have any idea if his issues (retired at age 25) arose from his strangeness. I think his stamina wasn't that good and that he was a bit lacking in physical strength, so there were other factors at play.

I think Ike Ibeabuchi was a better better fighter than Oliver was . Ike needed help then got cheated by a Vegas hooker
The justice system let him down

Do you think that hooker in the hotel set him up intentionally?

From what Ike said she wanted to jack the price up & he refused. She said " All I got to do is yell ****" He said " go for it" & the rest is history. here was only the two of them in that room so it was He said She Said. BUT the hooker wasnt touched neither were the cops. Knowing Ike if he didnt want to be arrested someone would have been. She told the police she had only come to "dance for him" ROFL Yeah right lol

Wow, so sad, because the man spent so long behind bars (assuming that version is true). I'm not saying you're wrong, you could very well be right, but we should take this account with a grain of salt because Ike was also hysterical and pretty out of his mind. I recommend watching HBO Boxing. Unrealized: The Story of Ike Ibeabuchi, the Great Lost Heavyweight (if you haven't seen it already).
