Kelly Pavlik was the first name that came to mind.

Yeah, he's still young and he might regain prominence but admit it, before his loss to Hopkins, he was THE talk of American boxing. People were excited. People were talking about him possibly KOing Hopkins. Nothing could've been further from the truth. Hopkins did "expose" how limited Pavlik is. That if you boxed him smartly, you can beat him.

I don't know how Pavlik with 1 loss has been exposed ... he wasn't knocked down or out ... he got beat by decision against a guy who was waaaay more experienced than him ... before the Hopkins fight Pavlik only went 12 once ... he's only 27 ... come on now ... Pavlik wasn't exposed for nothing but being wet behind the ears.

You're right. Some dudes on this site are like drama queens going from one extreme to another. Sometimes its like a soap opera, except the stars of this one like to punch each other in the face.

Agree and disagree. KP's limitations were exposed in that fight, but that doesn't mean he can't go on to do good/ very good/ great things in the sport in the future. He just got beat by a bigger, better fighter, albeit much older as well.

This conversation begins and ends with Jeff Lacy. The guy was knocking people out left and right and Gary Shaw was trying to make him out to be a 168lb Tyson. Goes up against Calzaghe and is dominated and humiliated losing virtually every second of the fight. He never has another good fight squeaking hard fought decisions against guys like Epifanio Mendoza, Otis Griffin, Peter Manfredo Jr, and Vitaly Typsko. And more epic beatdowns against Taylor and an utter humiliation against a badly faded Roy Jones Jr. It's the worst case I've seen recently.

Good calls on Michael Grant too.

HBO didn't hype him at all, you don't have a clue what the **** you're talking about.

He was the "opponent" for Miranda, who was HBO's hot young middleweight at the time. It was only after he had won the championship that Pavlik began to get a lot of attention.

Gotta agree. This forum was going crazy with white power chants when he beat Taylor.

I still remember the thread Pavlik vs Robinson in which a high majority of fans posted that Pavlik would beat SRR...:patsch
