What fighters from across the ages and divisions do you think would have Chin Checked Roy Jones? Here are my picks.

    MW

    Jake LaMotta
    SRR
    Marvin Hagler
    Charley Burley
    Carlos Monzon
    Harry Greb

    SMW

    Chris Eubank
    Nigel Benn
    Gerald McClellan

    LHW

    Billy Conn
    Bob Foster
    Michael Spinks
    Ezzard Charles
    Archie Moore
    Dwight Muhammad Qawi
    Michael Moorer

    HW

    Jack Dempsey
    Joe Louis
    Rocky Marciano
    Muhammad Ali
    Joe Frazier
    George Foreman
    Sonny Liston
    Floyd Patterson
    Joe Walcott
    Mike Tyson
    Evander Holyfield
    Lennox Lewis
    Wlad Klitschko
    Vitali Klitschko
    Larry Holmes

There are so many HWs that would have destroyed his Glass Jaw that I stuck to former champions because going any further would take up far too much space. Pretty much any HW with more skill and athletic ability than John Ruiz would have obliterated him. Also, the only ones I am not really sure of are Eubank, Benn, and Moorer. Eubank was a flake and his beating Roy would depend on which version of him showed up. Benn was Chinny himself, so that fight could go either way. As for Moorer, it is the same deal as with Eubank. He could be a flake, and while his Chin looked good at LHW, he also didn't face a lot of top fighters there.

Anybody else have some picks I have omitted?:think

    Excellent thread.

Prime Joe Calzaghe maybe? The version that fought Jones was shot, bloated and had hand issues.

    And of course, Dariusz Michalczewski.

Joes fists contained no true power, he's all about work rate.
Tito trinidad in his prime had every chance to expose Roy. Questionable maybe but I think his name is worth a mention.

If the man in your avatar landed a right hand on Jones it would be lights out.

Pretty much any decent heavyweight would KO him. That is why he cherry picked feather fisted sloth, John Ruiz.

I think if Sven Ottke hits him with a jab, Roy is in trouble....

Most definitely, but Tommy's Chin is why I wavered on adding him. It always let him down in the biggest fights and Roy certainly had the power to crack it. It is a who lands first sort of fight and I hate to say it, but Roy's speed gives him the chance to do just that. However, Roy would have been scared to engage which would have given Tommy a good chance to come forward behind that Jab and do work early. If you think Feather Fisted Glen Johnson put that joke to sleep, imagine what would have happened if Tommy landed the right that put Duran to sleep on him!:lol::lol::rofl:rofl:rofl
