I think Floyd has more in the toolbox, an extra gear, and the ring IQ to win matchups between him and Oscar at 140 and below. I'm not sure if he beats the Oscar of 1997-00 at 147 though, or the DLH of the early 00s at 154. I'm tempted on one hand to say his lack of size and activity would hurt him, but on the other side, he's so good at taking away his opponent's best weapon and adapting that it's hard to pick against him here.

And yet still dropped Calzaghe like a sack of dirt, despite already being shot to ****.

Roy was even surprised that Joe went down from a slap. Kinda ironic:lol:

:patsch Talk about make something more out of something than it was .
Its boxing KDs happen its what happens after. Calzaghe got up straight away, wasnt wobbly legged, fought straight back, didnt need to hold on and pressed the fight. Calzaghe was only having his 2nd fight at the weight and got hit by an illegal forearm, then went on to dominate Jones.
Have you forgotten how Calzaghe took a much harder punch in the 6th round with no effect or how when Jones landed a big punch in round 4, which Calzaghe just mocked . Forget that did we.

Tell me when Dawson got put down around 3 times in less than 30 fights was he hurt?
what about Dirrell being smashed to the floor by a journeyman and KOd by Abraham. Or Wards wobbly legs before going down to Boone and getting a lucky decision.
Calzaghe whenever put down never had wobbly legs or looked hurt where he couldnt fight back and had to hold.
    Thats the difference

If you notice pavlik was actually coming on that fight until he got that cut. We'd be talking about martinez in another light now if pavlik suffer those cuts.

Once again trying to make more out of something than it was.
Calzaghe was having his first fight in a new weight division in a foreign country and seemed a bit overawed, he suffered a KD, got up and became the only fighter to ever beat Hopkins at LHW . Even now Calzaghe is the only one. Dont mention Hopkins debut as he was over the LHW limit for that.

    Here read this

    This content is protected

    1. Calzaghe landed more than 100 punches than Hopkins throughout the fight.
    2. Contrary to what people want to believe, Calzaghe also made Hopkins miss more
    3. All round punch percentages, Calzaghe finished ahead of Hopkins
    4. Calzaghe outlanded Hopkins in every round
    5. A Byrd who scored for Hopkins it appears has a history for bad scorecards. Type in Adalaide Byrd in Google and see what comes up for yourself, still here are some little things for you to look at
    a. A Byrd was the only judge out of the 3 scoring judges that had Mack ahead against Cloud
    b. The K Pavlik - A Lopez fight was scored 98-92, 99-91 by the other 2 judges, A Byrd scored it 95-95
    c. A Byrd was one of the judges that had Morales a 4 point loser against Maidana
    d. In the S Aydin vs S Ouali fight, the other 2 judges scored clearly for Aydin. Byrd scored for Ouali
    e. The J Almaraz/C Tyler fight was scored a Maj-Dec all because of one judge, guess which? A Byrd
    f. The A DeMarco/J Reyes fight was a SD. Guess who the odd judge out was? A Byrd.
    g. The R Torres - M Arnaoutis fight was a close fight, a point either way to 2 judges but a wide result scored by Byrd
    h. In the A Pryor Jr/D Stanislavjevic SD, guess who the odd judge out was? You guessed it... A Byrd
    i. The W Ferguson/J Lopez SD, guess who the odd judge out was? You guessed it... A Byrd

I think thats enough for you to get the picture with Byrd. Remember the other 2 judges scored clearly for Calzaghe

    6. Calzaghe beat Hopkins in America, at a new weight with 3 American judges and Cortez as ref.
    7. Calzaghe scored the single highest score card against Hopkins ever 116-111.
    8. The 2 judges that scored for Calzaghe agreed on 9 of the rounds
    9. Calzaghe landed more on Hopkins than anyone ever.

    Enjoy :hi:

Once again Calzaghe was on his feet pressing the action. Remember How Hopkins had to hang on to survive Mercado

Yep. And I heard he struggled making weight and had his alcohol problem around that time as well. Not to mention how low in confidence he must of felt as the Hopkins defeat was only two fights before.

But Martinez still would have made it a tough fight give him credit he's a great boxer.

Pavlik, you are kidding right? Pavlik was never even close. Pavlik gets beat 100 times out of 100 and possibly stopped 99 out of 100.
