    For me, Wlad.

The turning point was the Povetkin fight, where he displayed an ungodly amount of fouling to beat a fighter whom I was fully convinced he could have beaten cleanly had he chosen to do so. I was also shocked at how easily Povetkin was backing him up and how poor Wlad looked when put under pressure.

It made me realise that a good bulk of his career was the result on cheating, and that while he was able to get away with it he looked unbeatable, the moment someone threw him out of his comfort zone he fell apart. This was proven in the Jennings and Fury fights, where Wlad looked clueless for large parts of those bouts.

Prior to this I considered him a masterful boxer, perhaps one of the best pure boxers the heavyweight division has ever seen. But his lack of versatility made me reassess that drastically.

Well, he may be, however, he certainly didn't prove that though.

I was not high on Danny Garcia, then he won the title and I was higher on him after Mathysse. Then he was inactive and now I feel less about him.

oh, I see. a keyboard warrior.
kid, he got schooled, dominated and ...yeah he was landing on the kid, listen son...
this is BOXING. and per the RULES of the game....chavez was LOSING
and with 2 seconds to go, the ref stopped the fight on the single kd of said fight.
you know what happened, that is why you react like a guilty little kid.
    ranting and calling names.
Because that is what you are left with.
    Go over there.
    ...kids these days...

LaPorte fight had a bunch of very close rounds and could have easily been a draw.

I watched this live and turned to my compadre after round 6 and told him "Taylor is winning his battles, Chavez is winning the war."

So it is, so it was, so it shall be written.

    Chavez ruined him.

The object of the game is to incapacitate the opponent. Chavez did that. Taylor was unresponsive. Fight over. Good call.

You remember that comment from 25/30 years ago?
    Ok.
Regardless, he deserved those two seconds. He was robbed that win. Even though Chavez did ruin him.

Unresponsive my a**. He got back up after 5 seconds, not 9!! Coherent enough to immediately shake his head, and the look he had to say what the fu@@ are you doing? Steele didn't give anytime on the second ask, just started waving his hands.. Complete incompetence from a half a** ref. You telling me Miles Lane stops that .. I don't think so

Funny things happen in cross promotions involving DKP fights thru the years. Anyone care to name one instance the DKP guy got screwed? If you are a judge or ref you certainly know who butters your bread.

But Duva certainly knew that factor going into the bout also. I thought then==let alone know==his stategy for the first 2 minutes was correct.

But then have Taylor take a page out of the Leonard/Ali book and shoeshine him for the last minute. Flurry and move away. Play to the crowd. Dance away flicking jabs. He did real well the first few minutes & judges and fans take to shoeshining to end rounds as some sort of barometer for superiority. Flash. Taylor had legs enough to pull it off for 60 seconds and just slap away & have Chavez follow him around the ring. Duva could have been on the apron shouting thosw instructions with a minute to go. It sure would have saved Main Events somewhat. Between that and the Whitaker bout, Lou had to be aware of the fact Chavez needed a big big round. And hitting a moving target like that at minute 35 happens in movies.

It was the perfect stoppage Taylor suffered a broken eye socket, broken ribs, badly busted up face, had a lot of blood pumped from his stomach, was ****ing blood for weeks and was in hospital for almost 2 weeks following the fight.
