Michael Grant. Not that I thought he would bounce back from crushung defeat to Lennox Lewis, but I hoped he would just because he was really humble, likable dude. And very gifetd phisycally. Grant, however, was crushed even quicker by Jameel McCline in his very next fight after loss to Lewis. McCline dropped him hard with first punch he threw, 2 seconds after the opening bell. Yeah, it was disappointing.

But even after TWO crushing defeats to Lewis and McCline I thought Grant still had some potential an could be back. I thought his promoters just made the mistake choosing huge and hard-hitting guy like McCline for his first comeback fight after Lewis. Plus McCline proved himself to be a good fighter with one-sided beatdown of Shannon Briggs and a win over Lance Whitaker. So I thought Grant still could come back. But after buch of wins over bums and journeymen Grant met with Dominic Guinn - much smaller guy with a very thin resume (at the time). I thought Grant would beat him pretty easily but he got crushed AGAIN. That was the point when I finally gave up on Michael Grant. And yes, I was never a believer of him having even a slight chance against Lennox Lewis. I just thought he can become a decent contender, but instead he got crushed badly every time he step up (except of the fight against LHW Tomasz Adamek, who just outboxed him)

Hamed should have studie his loss to Barrera and corrected how he was placing his feet.

Did you think he was going to beat McCallum at 154?

No he was getting caught a lot at 147, he didn`t look the same at all, he got floored by Brown in a really sloppy display.

Hamed was out of his depth v Barrera desite being really talented, his style could only take him so far, he needed to learn the fundamentals, he ws like a greek statue with clay feet, never elite.

To be honest probably not. McCallum was probably at his peak & undefeated. Curry looked very weak v Honeyghan at Welterweight.
I know Curry eventually won the title Light Middle, but everything unraveled very quickly thereafter.

That was due to injury bro. If that is included,
we would need to add Kim. Paret, Moore, Doyle
and close to 500 other fighters that were killed in
or severely injured in a boxing ring.

Hence why I said it was unwise to include it in the original list, as the poster did to begin with. He removed it when I pointed out that McClellan never had a chance to bounce back from the loss.

Quite a few great punchers seemed to lose something
after their 1st loss. I don't know if the reasons for it were
motivation or confidence. Foreman, (The 1st career)
Mugabi, Garza, Baltazar all seemed to lose something
    after their 1st loss.
Could be better competition (In Garza's case) but
quite a few noted hard punchers seemed to lose
that "It" factor after their 1st loss.
