I agree about Jeff Lacy ,I remember him coming up through the ranks and blasting alot of guys.Reminded me a little bit of Tyson just a lighter weight he was crisp with his punches and quick. At the same time though he did win world titles so it's hard to say he was not a superstar, I guess in the aspect of him not being able to beat Calzaghe I can see why a person might say that he wasn't. Someone mentioned Conteh but I think he achieved Superstar status or atleast in my book he did. Either way you look at it both of these guys are 2 of my fav's.

    i thought G-MAN would be teh p4p GOAT -

then he left ATG trainer Manny Steward And got crippled for life by Benn. :patsch

NOBODY in history @ middle or supermiddle beats a PRIME G-MAN with Steward in his corner IMO. :deal

    - Ok Maybe RJJ - BUT i still pick G-MAN. :smoke

I think Calzaghe would have taken him later on.

And, well, Benn did beat him.

rocky juarez.....seriously...the guy will be in world title fights till eh retires never winning 1 of them. hbo thought they had got a gem.

    tshifhiwa 'Atomic Spider' munyai
i remember an article in a mag saying that "the best domestic fighter in britain is not british he is south afircan" or something similar. he was just an unbeaten 5'9/5'10 bantamweight out of africa. fighting nobody of note but looked like your typical 'afro-bum'. looked like power could breeze through him. then the fight happend. the way he destoryed martin power with such ease was unbelievable. then his match with haskins, who was a good amateur and unbeaten and looked like he could bring the commonwealth title back. got demolished in similar fashion. then a rematch with power just led to the same conclusion. stopped harry romagoadi 2 divisions up in such and easy fashion it was unreal. who was a ranked alongside nicky cook.

then fights a guy called akaba a southpaw ghanaian. and gets totally outboxed and bullied. his right eye closed completly. pretty stunning upset when it happend. but with danny williams gettign bounced aroudn by mcdoughnut, no surprise it got swept under the carpet.but yeah, loses then dissapears into obscurity.

found out he has won the ibo title...hmn, still time.

there's a reason why..bennett had no gotdamn chin......mere journeymen were taking him out in the first round....which is a shame because he had good boxing ability and power

That's the first name that came to my mind when I read the title of this post. He looked like a world beater, suffered a few losses and just disappeared.

Jorge Linars should be on the list now. When I saw him fight Larios, I was sure he was going to be undefeated for a long time if his chin was proven to be sturdy. All the tools in the book. Thats the thing about boxing, it only takes one weakness for someone to exploit and ruin the whole thing.

Tsifiwe Munyai is looking good once again yes. Every boxer has their bad days.

This may be a bit harsh considering he won 3 world titles but I always felt Danny Romero was a sure fire super star and I mean on a De La Hoya level.

He was a good looking kid who had a crowd pleasing style and some serious power. He was tearing through guys at flyweight and had his first world title while still a baby, then he had that shocker against Willy Salazar. But he rebounded well and destroyed Harold Grey for his second world title but then he lost that huge hometown clash with Johnny Tapia (a very good fight though it was) and never really reached his full potential after that imo. He seemed to lose a bit of his spark.

A very good career but not what it could've been imo.

true you just hope these bad days aren't during a fight. he looked good in his latest fight, more of a boxer-puncher than a paul williams/guillermo jones style of fighter

hope he makes a return to the uk. he was well received and had a bit of support.

as a sa fan whats your thoughts on joyi? will he move up or is he jamming at 105lbs? thought he was gonna get a unification with gonzalez.
