Let's take a look at where these fighters were BEFORE fighting Hopkins and what happened AFTER fighting Hopkins:

    1) Tito Trinidad - Tito was undefeated, had just picked up a MW belt by blasting Joppy and was a top 3 P4P stud. His confidence was riding high and he was blasting everyone away that was put in front of him. He faces Hopkins, gets schooled from start to finish before getting KOed, and retires for 3 and a half years. His stay as an "elite" fighter was pretty much over after this fight.

    2) Kelly Pavlik - Pavlik was undefeated, seemingly the hottest new thing in boxing and the lineal MW champion. People thought he was going to be a devastating force for years to come. He faces Hopkins, again gets completely outschooled from start to finish and Hopkins "exposes" Pavlik's limitations. Pavlik has since faced two lower level fighters and lost to S. Martinez. The perception in boxing now is that Pavlik is a very limited fighter who can be easily beaten by someone who has some slickness and movement.

    3) Winky Wright - Boy was Winky on top of the world before facing Hopkins. He was a top 3 P4P stud and in a 3 year span, he had beaten Mosley twice, dominated Trinidad, beat Quartey and fought to a draw against Taylor (many feel he won this fight). After facing Hopkins, he completely disappears from the rankings and the spotlight. He disappears for nearly 2 years before losing to P. Williams. His stay at an "elite" fighter was over after fighting Hopkins.

    4) Antonio Tarver - Tarver was "the man" at LHW having destroyed Roy Jones and beating Johnson (i thought he clearly won both fights). After getting outclassed by Hopkins, he doesn't look the same again. Doesn't look like the guy who was the ruler of this division. What did Hopkins do to take away so much from Tarver? His confidence? Probably. But he never looks like an "elite" LHW after this fight.

And let me clarify that i didn't get to watch a lot of Hopkin's earlier fights. I know there were others who's career were never the same after facing Hopkins but I am not as informed about his earlier career. I know Joe Lipsey retired after getting KOed by Hopkins. Feel free to add more.

Joe Lipsey is a good call. Promising undefeated up-and-comer who was savagely laid out cold in front of his family and never fought again.

A lot of people thought pavlik was nowhere near as good as the hype suggested with his lack of movement and variety

Many can be considered "bad losses" and he's actually probably the only person that became better after facing Hopkins

What is it about the Bernard Hopkins style that makes fighters "lose it" after being beat by him?:think

He never had real one punch KO so it was usually an accumulation and he use to throw a lot more punched. In his prime, he just plain beat fighters down at a higher skill level.

At the latter stages of his career he was so technically superior to his opponents that I guess mentally they're not the same. Jermain Taylor had all the tools to go a lot further after his "decision" wins over Hopkins and he never developed after that.

Go to 7:20 of my video. Also, he's a tough ex-con that takes people's confidence and makes them question themselves. Look at Jermain Taylor's face after the first fight between him and Hops the guy looked so dejected. In other words, he ruins people especially when he faces them twice(excluding RJJ, he was already ruined).
