Intact even if they lose some more fights?....I don't think so.

I think there will be always some consequences for the losses, even if they are minimal.

It is simple: a legassy will always look better without the losses late in the career.

Basically either the fighters that are past-prime or fighters that have done so well already that ONE LOSS cant take away from it

Now you mention it, I wonder who holds the record for the most losses in a career. I bet our Pete won't be far off with 249. To be fair, he has been in with some decent opponents!

Naz and Ingle are two which spring to mind.

Do you reckon guys like him get paid a few bob just to take a loss - he hasn't been stopped too many times!

But Buckley is still a legend. They outta have a catch-weight bout between him and Reggie.

 

If Duran decides to strap on the gloves and fights and loses to Gatti, is his legacy tarnished?

 

According to Boxrec 276 losses, with 66 wins. I would imagine most of wins were early in career - imagine losing to him towards the end of his career - how embarrassing!

 

Roberto Duran would not lose to Gatti, even now!

My grandmother could have stopped Gatti in his last couple of fights. I just wish someone close to him could have told him the damage he was doing to himself taking all that punishment, from welterweights as well, when Gatti made his name at super feather!
