"Matador" literally means "killer" so that's kinda accurate for Mayorga. English *******ized the word into graceful bullfighter.

I agree on Johnson, he needed another name LOL.

 

While I know what your saying he KO'd Maussa and Castillo with one punch....

 

Keith Thurman stand up....KO's stopped as soon as he started fighting top tier fighters.

 

I never thought the Ghost suited Kelly Pavlik. Shouldn't a ghost have been someone defensive and hard to hit. Not a high volume puncher.
Was he called Ghost cause he was pale? Can't remember now.

Have doubts that the " Ole Mongoose " is a apt nickname for Moore, how, why, for a start, as far as I can see, being a devotee of wildlife documentaries, the Mongoose is a wiry, quick little creature, darting here there and everywhere, not in one place for more than a few seconds, sound like the rather slow, cumbersome Moore ?
Surely the name would be more suited to Greb no !
As for old Archie what about ( top of my head ) the " ole Armadillo " tough nut to crack, with a good defense, thoughts......

Actually i used to joke that Thurman's "One Time" nickname was quite apt. Especially if the reference is to how many times a year he fights.

 

Yes that's possible he had the raw power or was heavy handed and just didn't have the body mechanics/intuition to deliver that power through the kinetic chain. His power is obvious just by watching the footage and seeing how people react when getting hit, but his low number of KOs could be down to lack of proper training or understanding. He also wasn't a very good finisher as seen with how he had both Marvis and Ruddock hurt and they managed to turn things around.

 

The difference is Shavers body mechanics and delivery were phenomenal. The way he put all his weight into his shots was breathtaking. What Shavers' issue was is that up until the Roy Williams fight, he had horrible stamina. So if someone managed to recover from a potentially lethal bomb Shavers dropped, the fight was often theirs. What both Smith and shavers had in common was they could be very sloppy when attempting to finish a hurt opponent off.

I think Shavers power was a little more obvious and hard to miss. He hurt people more often than Smith who had a very surprising number of decisions. Win or lose, Shavers often left no stone unturned and ended the majority of fights in a devastating KO, whether he was the one dishing it out or taking it.
