Pretty self-explanatory. Name a fighter whose shining moment was the bad end of the stick. I'll start.

Howard Davis Jr. - In a career marked by failed expectation, Davis had to be considered a disappointment to the boxing experts. His fifteen round non-effort against Jim Watt might just be one of the worst fights I've seen, and that was a very winnable fight for him. Watt was nothing special. He remained a fixture in a hot lightweight division for a time, fighting and beating some good fighters, before garnering a second shot against WBC champ Edwin Rosario.

Rosario was favored, with his tremendous power and relative youth, and sure enough, he dumped Davis with a left hook in the second round. In the third, however, Davis uncharacteristically stood his ground and nailed Rosario along the ropes with a straight right. Rosario buckled and almost went down. From that point on, he seemed unsure of himself and allowed a suddenly emboldened Davis to box and slug more as he pleased. Only a last minute knockdown in the 12th and final round edged it for Rosario, though there are several who thought Davis still did enough to win.

As Rosario was thought to be the future of the division at the time, that would have been a huge win for Davis. Alas, it would be as close as he ever got to a title.

Well, Louis might be Conn's best filmed performance, but imagine seeing him rally in Yarosz II or some ****? So it's hard to be sure.

How about Shavers versus Ali? I thought he nicked that fight.

    Dave Tiberi for sure.

How about James J Corbetts first loosing effort against Jeffries?

Tim Witherspoons loss to Holmes perhaps, or Ray Mercers loss to Lewis.

Though Howard looked damned good against Meldrick Taylor also in that draw back in 1986.My pick would be Carl Williams against Larry Holmes.
