Hmmm..............not sure I'd agree with either of those, but that's cool.

When Iran Barkley lost to Duran in 89, he was at his peak in my opinion. That peak was short-lived. Even the surprise win against Van Horn was won on brute strength and nothing more.

Iran Barkley was the first fighter that came mind. He boxed really well against Duran. He was sharper and more composed than he had been before. Duran just took it to another level.

Great choice about Barkley, and I think it shows just how good Duran had to be that night to beat him. Iran put up the performance of a lifetime, better even than his wins over Hearns.

Yaeh, good call, dude. I forgot Walcott - Louis 1...
But this one was a split decision. Many people say Walcott won that bout.

Another good call. Galento is the only man ever to return a knock down to Joe Louis...:good

My first thought was Hearns- great fighter, but is most famous for his losses against Leonard and Hagler.

How unfortunate (for him, not the fans) that he shared the era with two slightly greater fighters...

Put Hearns in about any other era and he does much better and gets a higher all-time standing than he currently does.

Probably his two most famous fights, but safe to say neither was his best fight.

Personally, I was never more impressed with Mancini as I was in his losing effort against Arguello.

    Ditto Cooney/Holmes

Oddly enough, Barkley did everything right in there including keeping a busy pace to wear out the older man, making it a physical fight to weare down the smaller man, killing the body (and Duran was always a little soft after welterweight with one exception -against Hagler), working behind the jab to keep the shorter man at a distance and under control, and it didn't matter.
