I agree with you that he's overrated head to head, but in terms of "greatness," how many heavyweights do you believe deserve to be ranked higher than him?

With all due respect, John, it's very difficult to find any of those fellows overrated, lol. I mean Charles, Hagler, Leonard, Langford and Ali? Just don't see it, my man.

At 147, Palomino would have chopped Alexis and Pambele into pieces. You are ridiculous.

This guy is a humorous troll. Unlike an uncreative, predictable idiot like Farmboxer, this guy comes up with some outrageous ****.

Guys like Ali, Leonard, Duran, Pacquiao, Charles, and Langford are overrated but Hamed is one of the greatest featherweights to ever live?

Pryor kills Duran in a matchup at 140 because he achieved more at the weight? (Hatton also achieved more at 140 than the likes of Mosley, Mayweather, and Whitaker).

Duran should have fought Sanchez at 135? Duran's last fight at 135 was in February 1978, Sanchez rose on the scene 2 years later, beating Lopez at 126, in February 1980. 4 months before Duran beat Leonard at 147.

    Palomino is another Clottey? :godsdrink0nw:

turn of the century boxing in general, great tough and durable men for sure, but the Athleticism combined with tough hungry fighters was still not yet refined. pre late 19teens and 1920s before it actually took root.

Great question... Perhaps as low as on 5 my list. I will have to go through it again. But I would consider Ali, Foreman, Marciano, ahead of him as of now.

I'll stand by my generic point. It's possible to underrate and overrate everyone and believe you me there are opinions in this forum that represent both ends of the scale for many many greats.

Charles on the whole is vastly underrated in here now. I reckon around the time you started in here or a tad before he held right up on a pedestal and rightly so.

There are/have been guys in here that would take Langford over all sorts of ATG heavyweights i reckon and that would be pushing him a bit out of his level imo.

SRL in here is maybe a tad underrated out of disdain but i am sure there are a couple who have him a notch high. I've seen him inside ATG Top 10's in here and you could argue he didn't have enough fights to be in that rarified air.

I named Hagler myself as a smidge overrated. His finest wins came from weight divisions below and he underperformed in two of his three biggest fights, losing one when he held all the advantages. I believe his (and his corners) ability to adapt during the heat of battle when confronted with adversity was below that of many other ATG's. Whilst he beat Duran a little more decisively than the cards and legend seem to have conveyed he was a bit timid and let Duran get way too much milage out of his name. He was much worse against SRL, losing badly in the mind games and starting exactly the way SRL would have fantasized about.

Guys like Monzon and Hopkins would not have given SRL the luxuries Hagler did. After the fight Monzon actually said when fighting smaller men it is important to establish dominance and show them who the boss is. Having said that Leonard with all his brilliance may have got around this but the point remains.

So my point is i think Marvin would struggle a bit more against some of the past ATG's than is often perceived. He'd beat plenty, but i also think some would give him much tougher battles than is the accepted norm.

Above 135 and at or below 140, Duran is 23-0-0 with 18 KOs.
