He got battered by Spinks, looking pretty terrible in the process. Tough? Really? :think

Tough as in durable. His chin started to go towards the end, but the guy was capable of taking some huge shots consistently against far more talented fighters.Conteh fatefully ruined his hand beating his head like a drum.

Spinks as usual got him when he was softened up:good

Oh, his chin was incredible. The shots he absorbed against Spinks would have knocked out the majority of Light Heavyweights. Round after round, he was getting nailed flush by huge shots, and it eventually took a concerned referee to step in and say enough is enough. He could have been killed if that **** was allowed to continue. I thought you meant "tough" as in "good".

Sounds to me like he was always just a durable, tough journeyman. That was reflected in the fight...and the same would have happened at any point in Taylor's career.

    Spinks TKO13 Conteh.

I agree if anything ive always liked Barreras bad ass "Dont **** with me atititude" HE really didnt trash talk and if you disrespected him he would just sock your ass:lol::lol::bbb When he punched Mckinney, he had it coming... Mckinney was trying to intimidate him yelling this is MY TOWN!! With a Laker jersey(fight was at forum) He was all up in Barreras face.. And boom:bbb Barrera clocked him..... I was glad Barrera did that cause first of all , LA and the Forum was Barreras adopted home away from phone.. And built a good part of his career fighting n the old Laker building... Kennedy was from Memphis and thought his loud ghetto talk would intimidate Barrera ...GTFOH!!..,.,.. Caught that fight live too... A great fight and the first fight ever aired on HBO Boxing after dark.

    Muhammad Ali

I usually ignore what boxers do in their personal lives like wifebeating, but I stopped being an Ali fan after reading about how he threw HIS FRIEND Joe Frazier under the bus.

it might be mckinney you're talking about, i dont know, but i remember seeing him punch someone at a conference. The guy was being all melodramatic, wouldnt say he was being aggressive but he looked excited, Barrera clearly didnt know what he was saying. So he looked at one of his guys like, "wtf is he saying?...**** it, ill just punch him anyway" BANG:lol:

Really? IMO this shows low self-esteem and low self-control. Especially as a fighter you shouldn´t get involved in fights outside of the controlled environment of a gym or ring. You are a trained weapon. That´s your responsibility. You should do anything to avoid a physical conflict and only fight if you have to defend yourself or somebody else. And no it´s not defending when you punch somebody for an insult. An insult only says something about you when you react on it. When you don´t it just says something about the person who insults you.

I think I agreed with it, but you'd have to expect Froch to have the best run he fights twice a year, you'd expect them to be against the best. The older guys tended to have a few fillers in between as they fought way more often.

I think Calzaghe had a good case also.

    Maybe McGowan?

Ernesto Miranda - If I remember right he was no push over, maybe a contender.
Salvatore Burruni - Flyweight champion, excellent fighter
Alan Rudkin - British and Commonwealth champ at the weight above. Another excellent fighter.
Jose Bisbal - I dont know him
Chartnai Chinoi - As much as I hate to admit it, an excellent fighter.

    Whats Froch's

Pascal - Worst ever Linear Light-Heavyweight champion
Taylor - 2nd worst ever Linear Middleweight champion, and past his prime
    Dirrel - Unproven talent
Kessler - Past it semi-good fighter
    Abraham - Blown up, overrated

    Rudkin >>>>>> Pascal
    Burruni >>>>>> Taylor
    Chinoi >>>>>>> Kessler
    Miranda <<< Abraham
    Bisbal <<<< Dirrel

That is 19-7 to McGowan IMO

Abraham especially has gradually proven to be a thoroughly mediocre fighter imo.Not that i was ever a fan of him, but he's done worse than even i thought.
