Fighters Who've Influenced Today's Trainers?

Every time I see Beristan's name mentioned I am reminded of a special about a then upcoming fight, I'm guessing the last Pac - JMM fight. Beristan reminded JMM to keep his shoulders level when throwing a left uppercut or hook to the body...a lot of people must have seen that video. I've heard lots of people repeat what Beristan said and surprisingly, most have given him the credit for saying it. Good advice. Just good body mechanics for fighters to change levels and torque their body to throw the hook or uppercut instead of leaning forward. Hearing Beristan remind JMM made a lot of trainers/coaches correct that mistake with their fighters.

 

Eddie Townsend basically moulded the 'ideal' modern Japanese Boxing style during and after his time. He was like the Futch of Japan, and you can see it in in his fighters.

 

Also, I don't know how much influence he has had, but Jesus Rivero deserves credit as one of the best defensive / ring generalship trainers ever due to his work with Miguel Canto.

Also, 'Professor' Newton deserves an honourable mention as an obscure pioneer of the science in Britain. A very clever man in terms of the Boxing science. He was one of the first ABA winners, I believe, and trained Nipper Pat Daly (renowned for his skills) and such.

And of course, you cannot forget Dai Dollings, the man who taught Ray Arcel most of what he knew about training and analysing Boxing. That man was a legend and a real character.
