Bernard Hopkins at his best constantly has his defenses up, his style is not to be in positions wherein he has to make moves to drastically evade punches by ducking and dodging leather, his style is to always be aware of his and his opponents position and for their respective positions to mean that he is in a position to land yet his opponent is out of position to land. Most profesiional boxers do not throw punches if the punch is not there to be thrown, these are not club fighters, they are professionals, and this is the reasons why a lot of boxing bouts involving the great Bernard Hopkins are labelled 'boring', his opponents don't have a great deal of output because there is generally nothing to be thrown against him. A simple step here or a step there totally robs them of their target regardless of the fact that there is no excessive distance between the two men. If you go back to Hopkins in his physical rpime you can see him unloading on opponents relentlessly along the ropes with his guard up all the while, chin constantly tucked in, maintaining poise and balance, and he is heavily smashing the life out of some of these men. For Bernard Hopkins supremed defensive awareness is integral to success.

Most greats do, if you're too easy to hit you will get knocked out, no matter how good your chin is

Well, I am taking Pernell Whitaker here. Defensive wizard but his offensive abilities are often under rated.

If we're talking of the perfect blend, Jones Jr; Duran; Chang. In no order.
