Hatton is one guy I don't understand the chin-checkers crucifying. Admittedly, he did get KO'd by a non puncher and pretty badly hurt by Juan Lazcano, but his beard was fine. It was a check left hook Hatton got caught with, and he didn't see it, plus he went head first into the turnbuckle (not saying it damaged him more, but not saying it couldn't have, just that it happened), so the whole element of not seeing the punch is EVERYTHING. In his second knockout, the same thing happened, he didn't even see it coming and was blitzed by a shot that anyone in the WW division would've fell to if hit.

But throughout both fights, and a lot of other fights, Hatton took a lot of shots from Mayweather and Pacquiao. The first knockdown he was halfway through throwing when Pacquiao caught him on the button and effected his balance, and the second he was just rushed and he fell backwards rather than be put down by one specific shot.

Like I say, not defending Hatton's losses or saying his knockouts weren't just, but he does not have a glass chin. It's irrefutable.

Focusing solely on skin that crumbles like a bar of Flake chocolate: Kessler cuts up pretty badly now. Henry Cooper was notorious for bad cuts. Vazquez's coupon made him look like the Elephant Man after fights. George Groves has skin post fights that looks like he's been overly exuberant with a floor sander from HSS Plant Hire. Undoubtdely, the 'boxer' with the most friable skin was Mickey Rourke. Have you seen the state of his dish these days?

:happy:happyTerrific post from newcomer Marvelous_MNH. You certainly have a deep knowledge of the paper faced disgraces of the sport. Salutations for this very promising start to your fledgling ESB posting career. :deal

Greetings 46and0. I have become aware of the honour and respect with which the Team Elite/Chincheckers franchise is held within the realms of ESB. However, I have noticed a number of philistines habitating upon these boards, who attempt to refute the empirical facts that glass jaws and bodies, and papier mache skin, are evident in the sweet science. I must implore you, and your associates, to continue to denigrate these clumsy attempts at denial at every given opportunity. :respect

Yeah, Haye's fragile glass jaw will get badly exposed in this fight. I wonder if his skin will bust up too? My guess is he won't be around long enough for that to happen.

Hatton? Had a solid chin for most of his career. He used it block punches, how else could he have if he didn't have a solid chin? Over years of unhealthy living, fluctuating weight and taking shots on the chin, it finally cracked. That was expected. Honestly he went a lot futher than I expected. To say he had a glass chin is just ignorant and being a hater.
