Griffo being a fatass yet giving every elite fighter near his weight fits will always be legendary to me

Duran had issues with binge eating and binge drinking, although he didn't do it in camps, it definitely shaved something from his full potential, which is pretty scary when you consider how good he was.

Yeah but that ain’t really a addiction though. Most fighters especially in the lighter weights have strict diets for 2-3 months preparing for fights an afterwards really let themselves go eating junk food an drinking alcohol an ballooning up in weight.

Yeah, that's true. If they can't moderate it to a point that doesn't impact their career, I'd say this is a problem. The No Mas match resulted from partying and insufficient preparation. If Duran was in the right space and had prepared properly, I don't think that would've happened. Hatton was like that; it shaved years off his career, and then in retirement, it snowballed into a serious problem, which resulted in his death.

I suppose there's a different scale to addiction; there are the obvious examples like Broner, who is a complete waster, then there's Fury who came back from the brink of hell to win a title, to fighters who maybe have a binge or two, which can rob them of that 5% they need to be genuinely great. It's a good question, really; it all depends on where people draw the line and what they define as an addiction.

Gustavo Ballas finished with a record of 105-9-6 but was said to be a complete alcoholic while fighting.

I understand that anabolic steroids are addictive. If that's the case, then there are probably too many fighters to count who "overcame" their addictions, Evander Holyfield being the primary beneficiary who comes to mind.
