Whitaker almost danced while he boxed.

 

He probably has the worst footwork of any decent fighter in the sport. Truly dreadful. He's been knocked down 5 times, and 4 of them came because his feet were out of position.

 

Yeah I don't see how anyone could say he has good footwork.

 

Gamboa has ridiculous footwork too-!!!

he gets sloppy as **** sometimes and same with his defense, but if he focused more enough to give a damn about it, then it'd be good. I like how he sits up angles and gets in and out similar to Pacquiao.

It just happens though that he's too athletic and he sometimes tries to show off or just doesn't gaf and then he footwork becomes crap.

I really like his footwork when he's focused, but overall I feel you

When you think of guys like Leonard,Ali and Mayweather Jr,those guys are on a different planet when it comes to footwork.
I prefer talking about guys where it's not so obvious,like Marquez and Morales.Marquez' footwork is magnificent for all the reasons you mention.Azumah Nelson is another who comes to mind for less obvious,but still brilliant placing of the feet.
Hearns' power often overshadows the fact that he was a marvellous technician,and even though I have a strong dislike for the guy,Camacho had similar attributes when it comes to the less obvious choices(at lightweight of course.)

 

as much as i hate dlh i have to admit his footwork is underated. first thing people think about when they see him is that left hand and hook.
