Back in the 19th century, Peter Jackson often was forced to fight the white fighters with one arm tied behind his back.

Frazier fought his whole career visually impaired.

He had the ailment as early as the Olympics, were he had to fake a medical in order to compete. It's a very interesting point, because you're made to think just how much more elusive would of he of been with a good right eye?

Jose Napoles was niggled throughout his career by his high check bones which easily cut.

Vito Antofurmo actually had corrective surgery in a failed attempt to stop his horrendous tendency to cut.

Julian Jackson was supposedly nearly blind latter in his career. All the more amazing the shot he landed on Graham considering his eyes were swelling shut there.

Sam Langford was almost completely blind towards the end of his long career.

I forget his name but there was a deaf/mute fighter who was very successful.

Gene Hairston? Also I was recently reminded on another thread by Quickhands21 that Paul Spadafora had a bum leg, had been shot in that leg and yet became quite an elusive boxer, mostly due to his developing great upper body movement.

...........Perhaps the saddest case I can think of is Kid Akeem Anifowoshe, who lost that thrilling decision to Robert Quiroga back in 1991. He collapsed in the ring after the decision was announced, and was partly paralyzed for a time as a result.

After a few scrapes with the law, he decided he wanted to try fighting again once he got reasonably recovered. Of course, no commission would ever approve this, so he got no fights.

He moved back to Africa where an unscrupulous promoter signed him up. He died as a result of his injuries in that comeback fight. :verysad

    Yeah, I think that's him.

Speaking of bullets, Cleveland Williams and Monzon were shot later in both their careers and it would haunt them.
