I'm going with Memphis Al Jones, who is a great pick for the kind of fighter I'm looking for here.

He finished his career a awful 10-37-2 and was stopped 26 times in a career spanning 22 years. Some tidbits.

    • Knocked down Jerry Quarry twice in their first fight.
    • Climbed off the canvas five times to knock out world-rated Boone Kirkman in a stunning upset. The victory earned Jones the distinction as The Ring magazine's "Fighter of The Month."
    • In 1969, Jones scored an upset 2nd round knockout over undefeated prospect Tony (Kid) Longoria and, in the process, ended Longoria's promising career.
    • Also known as "Preacher" Al Jones because he was in fact a preacher.
    • Was knocked down 7 times in his defeat to former WBA heavyweight king Jimmy Ellis.

Derek Chisora. Mediocre record, but he shows up ready to give any man a really, really rough night. Even an overwhelming favorite has to dread fighting him.

Jesse Burnett unremarkable record of 25-17 but he was a world class fighter that was just unlucky in alot of his close decisions.

Fritzie Zivic has the most losses (65) of any hofer or world champ.

Battling Jim Johnson was a stylistic nightmare for almost any HW willing to face him, & his stye caused severe injuries to Jack Johnson & Harry Wills.

Glen Johnson lost a lot of (often close) fights before teaming up w/ Orlando Cuellar & finding his ideal style & weight class.

Freddie Pendleton seemingly lost as often as he won, but he was a dangerous contender & eventual titleholder over a number of years.

Guys like Orlando Salido and Sergey Derevyanchenko were always live dogs, win or lose. These two always came to fight and gave most fighters a rough night.

Kamil Sokolowski, Marion Wilson, Darnell Boone, Darron Wilson (who was on this forum at one point), Emmanuel Augustus.
Also Ross Purrity and Dereck Chisora to an extent.
I wouldn’t count someone like Rex Layne or Bert Cooper who ended up with poor records after they’d already got their good wins in, I’m counting guys who were having losses throughout, usually guys who would take on all comers and often not get the benefit of the doubt or get robbed, but had the ability to upset if you weren’t on your game.

Maurice Harris the best 26-23-2 fighter that ever was.

Robbed against Holmes. Harris was electric when he was "on".

You ever see Harris faceplant Jimmy Thunder? Absolutely brutal, Thunder was out COLD.

Man I wonder what would of happened to Harris if he wasn't caught in the Jefferson bout...

Ruined Jimmy Thunder. I remember watching Tuesday Night Fights back in the 90's Thunder just got into the top ten, and Harris had I believe an 8-8 record.

    Emmanuel Augustus.

Couple of 1970s middleweights in Willie Warren and David Love.

Jesse Ferguson, who earned a title shot with his upset of Ray Mercer.

    Shig Fukuyama.

Ross Puritty was 8-8 when he took it to Morrison too I believe.

I don't care what anyone says... for the most part I'd rather watch a talented fighter with a terrible record who comes to fight over someone far more talented who never stepped up or challenged themselves.

What was up with Mo's weight early on anyway? Crazy how low he started.

Harris had a shaky chin, but good power and very skillful. I remember Chris Byrd said that Lewis and Tyson's camp would pay Harris not to spar with their opponents because he was that good when he was on.

Have you seen the Gerald Nobles bout? Nothing too exciting and then, bam... Mo was out cold and face down on the canvas, almost exactly like he had done to Thuinder!

Me too, I miss ESPN Top Rank Boxing Tuesday Night Fights, I remember ABC, NBC, and CBS used to have title fights on Wide World of Sports back in the 80's now its impossible to follow, not even HBO or Showtime!
