Fighters with solid chins who got knocked out at least once

What about the Briggs fight and the Tua fight. Both landed clean solid punches on Lewis and were notorious big bangers.

 

I agree, especially Briggs, he probably landed better bombs in the first 3 rounds against Lewis, than Tua did in all 12 rounds. My point was just the Ruddock & Grant fights appear to be odd examples, so i provided 5 replacement examples of Lewis taking hard punches on his chin in fights against strong men.

Grant landed a couple nice rights in the 1st and some hooks in the 2nd. Lewis was bleeding from the mouth in the 1st.

 

There is different types of stoppages here ... accumulation of punches like a Schmeling - Lewis or bombs out of no where ...

Tiger - Foster, already mentioned, is a great one for me as Tiger was a monster in his own right but Foster almost took his head off ...

Joe got knocked out in his first pro fight,but went on to prove himself as a very durable fighter with a good jaw.

 

Maybe I missed this in someones post but how about Joe Frazier getting starched by George Foreman. I've never seen a man fly off the canvas so many times in a fight as Joe did that night.

 

I could mention Pat Comiskey.

He had a reputation for having a chin like an anvil, and was seen as being on the up and up, then he takes a fight against Max Baer and gets brutalized in the first. His only other stoppage loss occured towards the end of his career against Henry Flakes, who was himself a prety formidable fighter.

Sugar Ray Robinson stopped by Joey Maxim (altho it could be argued he was stopped more by the heat that night)

And while he was not really knocked out (or even knocked down) George Chuvalo was stopped by both Joe Frazier and George Foreman.
