With a few exceptions (Ruiz, Fury, Toney) don't all boxers have great physiques? I know I set the bar low on that front but I don't tend to look at a boxer and think he's been shirking from the gym. If we're talking about how real gym rats do as boxers, though, then the number of guys repeatedly mentioned who are both super ripped and bona fide ATGs - Hagler, Holyfield, Jones Jr, Griffith, Mayweather Jnr - probably puts the myth to bed that a ripped physique is an impediment. When combined with great skills and ring IQ it does the job perfectly well.

In the same way, a super ripped body without top notch skills - I'm thinking Weaver, Bruno, AJ to an extent - will fall short. But that will be down to the lack of skills more than anything. The Adonis physique is merely a vessel for those shortcomings to be seen, not the cause of them.

Not sure i'd call them "great" fighters but to each his own.
