Maskaev won the Event from Sam Peter because he wore that big ass sombrero into that bull ring where the fight was held.

 

Eddie Chambers came close to winning the event vs Wlad however was banjo'd and sent through the ropes in hilarious fashion.

I don't know about the best, but I think Riddick Bowe has the worst record in events, with event losses vs Golota (x 2), Larry Donald, Elijah Tillery, Buster Mathis Jr, and Fan Man. His only event victory I can remember was versus Jorge Luis Gonzales. He may have won all of these fights (minus the Lewis one, which was a non-fight, but a clear event victory for Lennox), but will forever be remembered for his appalling 1-6 record in events.

 

There are two results now? The Event and the Match. These Cubans are into something.

I think the Rafael Marquez-Israel Vazquez trilogy was an oddity...BOTH fighters won the event.

Can fighters claim they've won the event, or does the crowd determine when fighters win an event?

 

It's the crowd. Otherwise everyone would be claiming to be 'event-winners' when we just know that's not the case.

 

Marquez has a terrific event winning record.

He gets dropped 3 times in one round only to come storming back to fight a draw. A clear EVT win for Marquez.

The second fight, even more controversial as most experts believed Marquez won. He even got dropped in the process but still won the majority of the rounds in both fights. Another EVT decision for Marquez.

These EVT wins for Marquez allowed for his ego to get a bit too big so he overpriced himself against Pac to go to Indonesia and fight Chris John. Not a great affair, but a fight in which Marquez seemingly should've won. I think it was an EVT win there, but it was almost too boring of a fight for it to count. But it does. Marquez has an unblemished EVT winning record. No doubt...
