Muhammad Ali. Fact that he was able to recover from the Frazier knocked down just beyond comprehension. Nobody had a better nose for the finish line.

You gotta respect Marquez for getting up after the first round vs Pacquiao and still putting an amazing fight.

Nigel Benn would normally come back swinging when hurt.

I just opened the thread and might have more to say but Larry is a good choice because....geez he could get so lazy and get nailed by right hands from many boxers with talent tiers below him...instead of covering up he rose and threw punches!! No better 'defense' after getting clocked then to start flinging leather back.

I don't think that qualifies as "recuperative powers".

You have certainly nailed it a lot better than I did just by writing his name. Unreal how the guy could be down, and badly hurt and immediately start fighting back when he rose.

OK laugh at me but, although not on any short list, Patterson was a survivor. Most of his knockdowns did not deter him at all. Sonny didn't put him in a puddle so to speak. After rising from the Ingo shot (a Sunday shot) he rose and fought back. After Ellis had him in semi-deep trouble in the 3rd round, Floyd came out in the 4th, tore open Jimmy's eye and, basically kicked his a r s e the last half. After one KD in the first Quarry fight, careless Floyd tasted a Sunday shot right hand from Quarry with almost two minutes to go in round two, rose and fought on kicking Jerry's a s s for most of the fight.
    P i s s on the Patterson "china-chin" nonsense...

"They said I was the fighter who got knocked down the most, but I also got up the most."

:goodNo doubt. He did it so many times. Those days were great with all the terrific fights broadcasted free on network television. Primo time for the 175 pounders, and Matt was one of the highlights.

That's it for me. That and Monzon getting beat to the punch by that Valdez right hand. A 37 year old Monzon. Perfect punch. And the guy got up with legs like nothing happened. Incredible.

Ali,Holmes Hagler, ( was he ever really hurt, considering Hearns,Mugabi,Briscoe,Sibson,Roldan and some of the other viscous punchers he faced and walked through) Pryor before he lost the battle to the white powder. Holyfeild. (Some of the shots he took from Bowe).

How doesn't it? He was hurt and only a few moments later was able to come back brawling.
