Oscar fought the best competiton of his era by far out of any fighters from any weight. whowever the big name was out their from 135-160lb oscar fought............he has a lot of balls. the same cant be said of any other fighter of that era.
Chris Byrd looked like he wanted to join the ranks not so long ago. Oscar had his share, and stand out because they were big fights. It wasn't like Haugen winning a questionable decision to set up his fight with Chavez. Oscar's were on PPV. Sturm may have been HBO.
Probably the least appreciated world champion to retire undefeated. Not much to appreciate really. He was average, never came out of Germany, and was given gift decisions.
From memory there's Tiberi, McCallum II, Johnson, Sosa, Jirov. There's probably more, not to mention the draws... So there you have it my ignorant friend.
Jirov? Yeah right. Whoever scored that against Toney should no longer score, ever. McCallum II was no win for Mike, as much as I would've liked. I was counting Johnson and Tiberi. I never saw Sosa vs Toney.
Depends on how one scores the Jirov fight. It was close enough to warrant a "close call" designation. Same with the rematch with McCallum, my blind buddy.
It depends on how one scores any fight. McCallum II makes me respect your judgement. Jirov makes me laugh in your face.
The Jirov fight certainly was a close fight. Then again I heard Oscar was inquiring about potential judges for the next Casamayor fight... I'll make sure to tell him of you, my misguided pal.
