    Certainly gaining momentum.
Golovkins fans were getting carried away with his power somewhat.

I dislike Marciano because he is a overrated club fighter. But his fans make me dislike him and them even more. You could say the same thing about Tyson Fury fans, Mike Tyson fans, Deontay Wilder, Wladimir Klitschko, and Anthony Joshua fans.

All the insane **** Leonard gets almost makes me a fan of his by default.

That he literally gets tons of more **** for challenging Hagler than Hagler gets for bypassing more deserving challengers like Hearns, Graham etc says all you need to know. Likewise that everyone is bitching about that he "tricked" Duran into an early rematch but nothing about Duran publically insulting his wife to get under his skin. I can see no clearer indiction of which fighters have the most insufferable fans.

Not that all Hagler and Duran fans are like that of course. And they were two phenomenal fighters that are deserving of big fanbases, but the pathetic whining and excuses that some of them overindulge in...

Tyson fans can also be a bit exasperating and after all these years I still have a hard time not biting when Frazier fans call it a bad excuse to say that the lay off ended Ali's prime but in the next breath say that a 29-year old Frazier was past it. But as annoyed as I can be with Tyson's and Frazier's fans, they at least don't blame the other guy for the times their guy lost (well, somewhat but not with such over elaborate conspiracy theories).

I think all the Fab Four take **** - Hearns perhaps less so. But, Hagler, Duran and Leonard take more or less an equal share of **** between them - some of it fair; some of it not so much.

Since they are all riveted to each other in boxing history, with each of them taking a key share in the others' legacy, it's no surprise to me that many a conversation is had about that history.

So what if Leonard's halo gets dulled a bit, every now and then, it's no greater than the dumping on Hagler and Duran that goes on, routinely.

We'll have to very much disagree on that one.

Don't really know what's being routinely said about Hagler that's bad. Almos everyone agrees he cleaned out his era and have him as one of the top MWs.

Duran has one or two detractors that make a bit much out of losses he had past his prime at higher weights, but things like Leonard only retiring to wait Hagler out... And that's only the most insane one. He "tricked" Duran, ducked Pryor, Hearns and Duran. Got a gift against Hagler, was gifted a bad stoppage against Hearns, beat an out of shape Benitez, only rematched Hearns when he was past it, only gave Duran a rubber when he was a fossil, "tricked" Curry into not challenging Hagler... Many of the ATGs have their detractors, but Leonard is the chem trails of boxing, at least on this site.

I don't think any fighter should be penalized for his fan base unless they are in support of his very questionable lifestyle.

As for the worst fans, that depends. In terms of delusion, maybe Tyson's fans as they think his losses were fixed and many felt he'd KO Holyfield and Lewis early. Hopkins fans tend to be blind of his fouling ways, and fake injuries.

I suppose one has to actually leave a 'chem trail' for it to raise the specters of mischief you refer to. And, how much do people care about some of the more outlandish claims? I don't think they pose too much of a distraction from some quite valid questions.

People, who can't and won't have a negative word put against Leonard and his career, come across every bit as much the tin-foil-hat wearers. There's as many halo-polishers, as there are extreme dumpers, from what I've experienced on here. But, most are fairly balanced in their assessment of him.

I'm an unashamed Loma fan, but I try to avoid making absurd comparisons or proclamations about him. I just enjoy watching the guy fight.

Fully agreed about the detractors, I get 100% more irritated by the people who relentlessly bash certain fighters compared to the overzealous supporters. Not that those can't go hand in hand at times, but I have a much higher tolerance for those who talk their guy up excessively. I have a great deal of respect for all eras and to the men who have the courage and skill to succeed in the ring, even the ones who I personally don't prefer to support.

That said, I do think that in MMA, Conor McGregor's fanbase made me dislike him a lot more than his antics alone would have managed.

For me the worst fanbases are:

    Marciano
    Tyson
    Money May
    Dempsey
    Ayala
    Wlad
The Primo had excellent skills and on par with Bowe Brigade (I like them, I just don't like their defending of a view that anybody with two eyes can see is wrong).

Indeed we do. Because, in essence, you're implying that Ray Leonard is actually beyond reproach.
