What fighter do you most miss being around today, for whatever reason.

Look, we are all boxing fans here, & for anyone who has been posting on ESB for at least two years, we all have been on someones bandwagon, or we hated a certain fighter, or we just loved seeing a particular fighter FIGHT! Without nuthugging or hating.

Boxing is such a cruel sport, the fighters that we love to love, love to hate, hate to love & love to hate's careers can be over so suddenly that we true boxing fans are in a constant state of turmoil, the highs & lows following the sport are so extreme that football fans in comparison are emotional pussies who could never understand a true boxing fans psyche.

I will start, by saying Scotty Harrison of course. Man, I hero worshipped the guy, & still do despite him never fufilling his potential. & his potential in my opinion was to be the greatest scottish fighter that ever lived! Maybe he would, maybe he wouldnt have been the best.

Thats my point though, every boxing fan on here must have the equivalent of a Dunky thing going on here, when they first started posting this that & the other guy was a big talking point & now that its gone... you miss it badly!

So go for it. As I say this should be a hate free thread, for all the proper boxing fans who spent a whole lotta time putting their energies into a certain fighter or fighters, & still miss them to this day for whatever reasons, love or hate.

& remember it isnt a favourite fighter thread, its about ANY fighter that made you want to debate here, love 'em or hate 'em!

Harrison & Hatton were my two favourites, for differing reasons. I loved to love Scotty, & loved to hate Hatton back in the day, & now that both are gone? I look back on both differently than I did when I was posting a few years ago.

Look. This post isnt so easy to do, its kinda deep. I just hope my fellow ESB'ers 'get' me!

For me it has to be Arturo Gatti. The man was such a warrior, it's like I just wanted to wrap the guy in cotton wool after each fight. I probably miss him the most out of any fighter, and it annoys me that he didn't get to live out a full retirement with the money he earned during his boxing days. I also miss Carl Thompson.

Hatton in his pomp... massive fan of the guy, though the really good performances were few and far between after Tzsyu. Plenty of good wins but he didn't really fight his best fight on numerous occasions. Didn't QUITE maximise his potential. In hindsight should have perhaps sought new input into his training after Tszyu.

    I don't dislike any fighters... really don't

The whole Benn/Eubank/Watson/Collins era on ITV was fantastic. I miss those days. Even though most of the Eubank fights were dreadful lol

Should the last one be 'hate to hate' ??

Easy this one Hatton in his prime :good

Never a great fighter but still he was good, didn't talk half as much **** as he now does and him, Farnell and Gomez whipped up a mega atmosphere round Manchester and me and my mates whenever they fought. Me and my mates would be buzzing about it for weeks before the fight and if we couldn't make the fight then our local pubs would all be packed with our mates watching it.

I miss the 90s period - all the fighters from there. I miss Naz, Benn, Eubank, Watson, Collins I miss the ****ing terrifying prime Tyson. Too many to mention but if I was gonna say one I'd say Naz.

Has to be Benn for me although he was in a few **** fights you new that the potential for something dramatic was only ever a few seconds away. The same could be said for Naz aswell I guess but Nigel will always be No1.

Ali,Tyson, Hagler. At British level Naz or Eubank. Someone, anyone, who could get non-boxing fans talking about and interested in the sport.
