Sonny Liston movie would be the wildest ever... saying the story out loud is really does sound like a movie.

"MoNkkey on My Back" (1957) starring Cameron Mitchell was a movie bio about Barney Ross.

Yep. That’s why he’s the easy choice here. He’s such an entertaining crazy character. His story has it all. Don’t even need to embellish anything.

And the capstone to his story was that he was pardoned like 72 years after his death, at an event at the White House attended by the last (at that time) undisputed HW champ and a current (at that time) HW champ, both of whom are black. Probably laughing his ass off in his grave at that turn of events. And the kind of **** only he’d pull off.

Sonny Liston - by Nic Roeg c1970.

Emerging ageless and scarred rom the sharecropping old South to checking out in the lounge-fuelled fluorescent nightmare of seventies Vegas (via the slammer, the mafia, the heavyweight championship of the world, the NOI the committee rooms of the Kennedy White House and the needle) isn't a trip everyone makes.

The Pittsburgh Windmill needs a movie for sure, he was talked about like a force of nature back in the day. There's this old comic of his fight vs Tunney and it making a joke about Tunney feeling like all of Greb's family was throwing punches at him. The first true buzzsaw.

Good topic. I’m surprised we haven’t got Tyson yet.

One of my favourite fighters ever. People would only complain it wasn’t about Hagler or Leonard though.
