I believe my opinions of fighters who fought since I became an adult are reasonably accurate. It is the fighters I have my youth which, thanks to Boxrec, I have found are not what I thought, That being said, the guys I was impressed with back then still hold a spot higher than they should for me. A couple of those guys would be lighter weight fighters Bernabe Villacampo and Berkrerk Chartvanchai. As a kid I thought anyone who won the world title had to be an extremely good fighter. I didn't realize that even before the proliferation of weight classes and governing bodies a fighter who was less than top notch could occasionally win a belt. They just couldn't hold on to it for very long.
Chris Eubank Nigel Benn I adore both these guys, they were way before my time but watching a clip of their first fight (probably 8-9 years ago) really got hooked into boxing. I’ve watched pretty much all there fights multiple times, as well as documentaries and interviews on chat shows etc. I am a massive fan of both. But ultimately I know they aren’t in Toney’s and RJJ class even though I want them to be and try and convince others they were. Eubank’s chin is without doubt up their with anyone else’s in the sports history. I don’t think that is overrating him tho.
Yes. Cotto was one of my personal favourites. I thought he was the best 147lb fighter in the world & would have beaten Mayweather in 2008 if Floyd didn't all too conveniently "retire".
