I never heard of Karl Williams the boxer ( I heard of Carl Williams though) Clearly Bruce Seldon took a dive, it looked like Steward went down from blows that didn't land. The punch on Tony Tubbs barely landed. It look like Clifford Ettiene took a dive.
Didn't Jake LaMotta admit he took a dive against Billy Fox.....he just stood there and let Fox pound on him until the ref stopped it.
Believe me, nothing suspicious about this. Ball was a terrific banger but had a completely glass jaw. Watch his fight with Marty Monroe. He really rips Monroe up in close but whenever Monroe landed that counter he dropped him. His best win was a 2nd round KO over shopworn Ron Lyle, but even old Ron dropped him before he took his own nap.
Michael Moorer against Foreman. He got hit, but made no effort to get up. I think it was a meltdown but he might've thought he was owed a rematch. Douglas did the same thing against Holyfield. He had nothing to look forward to if he got up.
Lol at the first one, pretty sure Moorer was hit so hard he received a brutal cut inside his mouth from the jarring force of the punch that had separated him from his senses.
Y'know, I'm a big fan of Sharkey and his style, but I have to admit that I concur. Not that I think Sharkey went down on some contrived deal, but I do think he tried to win it on a DQ. I do think he had been getting banged in the nads a few times and was getting frustrated with the ref doing nothing about it. The last low blow he turns to complain, gets popped with the left hook and goes down. A good left hook but not sure if it was enough to go down from. But let's say it was just for the sake of it. Do I think he could have got up? Yes. His body language was all wrong. Crawling across the ring while holding the twins. I don't think so. It was all spur of the moment, but I think he was trying to nab the win on a DQ.
If you watch it, he moves his head and looks around with no problem but makes sure not to get up before the count. He might've gotten knocked out after that but there's no way he put 100% into getting back up.
His reaction was very similar to Ettienne when Mike Tyson knocked him out although Clifford's did look more put on.
