It doesn't matter if you outbox your opponent and then suffer a bad cut from legitimate clean punches. It shows Vitali had bad defense (in that fight anyways).

It's the equivalent of hitting on a girl with smooth talk, and just when you're going to get her number, you trip and spill a drink all over her. Doesn't matter what happened prior to that, she's gonna be turned off and walk away.

Lewis stayed in the fight because he kept landing power shots and the punches paid off. That's just as viable of a strategy as investing in body shots: you're losing rounds until you're able to take over when the opponent slows down and gasses.

I wouldnt bet on either with him vs Foreman. Lewis was quite aggressive vs big punchers and Foreman would gladly return the favour. Can go in any direction really, maybe Foreman due to his whiskers.

Lewis beats Frazier, smothers his offense in the clinch, rocks him with uppercuts and just stays at long range with his jab and right hand.

I think Holmes and Ali could beat him though. I dont think Lewis was all that against a good boxer. I think Ali and Holmes would take away his jab & right hand with their own jabs and movement, then outpoint him to a UD. But Holmes could get chinned by a right hand in all fairness.

My understanding is that you think a fighter covered in their own blood with a busted lip and deep cuts had better defense than the guy who won by stoppage.

 

Yeah the guy who landed more punches and made more of his opponents punches miss has better defense that's how boxing works

 

The punches Lewis landed ended the fight via a bloody mess. Vitali wasn't dodging or blocking ****. Your face doesn't look like that because you had the better defense.
