Ok, I've been looking up different fight videos and noticed that amateurs seem to like to throw a lot of punches at once. Even in the Olympics. Yet in the pros they pick their shots. I know that you should not swing wild. But I also want to be able to score. Any advise?
well, just do what you and your trainer feels best obviously the pros are over 12 x 3 minute rounds so they have to conserve energy so think of it as a marathon whereas amatuers is a sprint with shorter rounds and less rounds so you have to throw alot of punches but to be honest the scoring is so bad you could proably throw 1 punch and be able to win a fight
Just put 3 or 4 punches together at a time. You only have 3 rounds to fight; pros have up to 12, hence the difference (and the differences in scoring).
Sounds good to me, but I don't want to be like Raushee Warren*though he is a good boxer* where he throws very wildly
dont throw them wild throw them controlled straight punches my trainer recntly pulled up on something with me the other month he said i was throwing shots like a pro turning my hand in and rolling and that with my shot but he said in the amatuers try and land your shot with a straight arm landing with your first 2 knuckles and no more, its alot more quicker and powerful
NO offense intended, though his hands are fast he keeps them down. What I'm trying to get at is, I want to have a proper form yet be effective
In that event, ****, let me get a video for you of Danny Jacobs as an amateur. He was really good at it but not near as unorthodox as Rau'shee.
Lol, idk. I don't want to feel as if my training goes down the drain from just swinging. You have to admit most of them do just start throwing
If you think it's "just swinging" and there isn't purpose to it then you're wrong. Rau'shee especially is accurate; but you have to let your hands go a LOT at those lower weights.
I like how he boxes kind of like Cotto. His blocking isn't the best in the world, but who the hell needs it when you can hit like that?
