Sadly it's probably that which makes him a relatively unknown fighter compared to Benn and Eubank. I'm sure he would've got his hands on a version of a world title eventually, but as to your earlier question of whether he'd of been greater than the two? It's hard to say but I don't think he'd of come out of their shadow. Not unless he had a seriously large win streak anyway.

What a sad and powerful story about a powerful person. Deep.

Man there is something classy about that era of English fighters. Watson was an amazing guy. Eubank was a a-hole, but he made it CLASSY! He was a "villian". You have to love these guys!

The ref should of stopped it after Watson got hit by that savage uppercut from Eubank. If it was stopped it could`ve even saved his career let alone saved him from disability. But i think the poor security, the fights outside the ring and not getting him quick enough away to hospital didn`t do benefit to Watsons recovery either. He fined the BBBof C after that.

the ref stopping it after the uppercut would have done nothing, watson hit is neck on the rope, the damage was done.

Looks like it wasn't the punch or the rope that did it. All that happened in the ring was reasonable. It was the HORRIBLE emergency preparedness and follow up that caused this tragedy. It was a comedy of errors. Like the event coordinators had no idea that boxing was a contact sport.

Things like that make me not blame guys like RJJ for not fighting in the UK or Europe at the time. Seems as though things have improved greatly though.
