How much $$$ would it take for Floyd to fight GGG at 160?
Apparently 100 mil is not enough to get in the ring with Pac.

    " fighting Cotto and GGG @ 160 lbs > than fighting Pac in 2009 @ 147 lbs ?"

Basically beating Cotto and GGG @ 160 would do more for Floyd's legacy than beating a 2009 Pacquiao @ 147 lbs.

People , just stop. I know he won't fight Cotto? and GGG @ 160 lbs. Not even GGG @ 154 lbs. And not even a past prime old Pacquiao @ 147 or whatever weight. I'm just talking hypothetical about which performance would make him a true-worthy HOF'er like the FAB4 !

    I say no.

OF COURSE it's more impressive to beat GGG than Pacquiao for Mayweather. There's absolutely no doubt in anyone's mind. But no one in the future is going to say "Mayweather didn't fight GGG". It's never going to happen. It's not a fight that's on the cards what so ever. Every single time Mayweather's name is brought up in the future, Pacquiao's won't be far behind it if they dont fight.

Lennox Lewis said he fought Tyson because he was sick of hearing his name everytime someone talked about Lewis. Mayweather should do the same by fighting Pacquiao. If May beats Pac fair and square, he essentially converts every "Pac****" in the world into a "Mayweather is the greatest of all time" speaker. Mayweather tried to make Maidana his Joe Frazier, it didn't work. Mayweather's Joe Frazier is and always has been Manny Pacquiao.

Yeah I can understand what you say but right now at this moment I would not consider a much of a challenge beating an old past-prime Pacquiao like beating a prime beast at his own weight like GGG.

Anyway as you said even if Floyd would fight and beat GGG, Ward and Kovalev a their comfortable weights, in the future people probably would still mention Pacquiao's name and the same remarks like "Floyd ducked Pacquiao" / "He was a coward", etc.

Personally, I don't see Pacquiao is past prime. I guarantee he'd stop a guy like Maidana if they fought. I know Algeri isn't great but Pacquiao looked sooooo much better against him than he has against guys who run away in the past, showing me that he's adapted to it. He cut off the cage a lot better too. His fourth fight with JMM showed loads of improvements before he got tagged which he didn't have in any of their previous fights. Mayweather beating GGG is a bit like saying Roy Jones would have to beat Vlad Klitschko to be the best (if they were at the same time). It's like, a dream fight, but not required by any means. Mayweather isn't ducking GGG if he chooses not to fight him. Different sizes really and Mayweather can be the greatest of all time by competing at WW / LMW.

I think that beating GGG would obviously be absolutely spectacular but would still be shadowed by Pacquiao, even if it's the harder fight for Mayweather. It's never going to step. Fighting Pacquiao is essentially the ONLY thing that Mayweather can do to avoid being attached to him forever.

I'm trying to understand what ESB is doing to attract more
low IQ'd posters than intelligent ones. This thread seems like
it was created by someone with mental re****ation as it is
worded without a relational point. I'd like to vote on this poll
but I have no idea what the OP is asking. I need smitty from
Sanford & Sons to translate :yep

yeah, can't argue with what you say. Anyway as you said probably Pacquiao is a more refined and polished offensive fighter at this moment than he was back then in 2009. But if they fight and Pac gets beaten, some people would say that Floyd cherrypicked a past-prime Pacquiao and if he would've fought him in 2009 it would've been a different story/ outcome.

Of course they would, but those people are an insult to actual Pacquiao fans. Being such a huge fan of the guy, I absolutely hate that "Mayweather haters" for lack of a less stupid term attach themselves to Pac.

If Mayweather beats Pacquiao, fair fuks to him. I wouldn't see a reason not to say that he'd then be above Muhammad Ali for the greatest of all time title. If Pacquiao beat Mayweather, he'd be up there but much more disputed. He'd be top 5 probably, but a lot of the older names like SRL, SRR etc. might still get in above him. None the less, both fighters need this fight to achieve what they've been working their whole lives to achieve.

As for primes, they are both still in their primes. People who diss Pacquiao really need to watch Pac Vs JMM 1-3 then Pac Vs JMM 4. His adjustments to his footwork made the fight sooo much different, and turned it into an absolute war. He took the perfect punch and got sparked out. It didn't stop him from looking as good as he always has against Rios and Algeri (if not better than ever due to Algeri's style). You can argue that Mayweather has gotten worse, but Maidana's pitbull style just somewhat exposed an area where Mayweather is weak, but it's not a style Pac would be able to use anyways.
