how would you rank joe brown? he had too many losses in his prime but when he fights for a world title, you really see an ATG fighter there..

all the fights in your prime should be considered in ranking fighters. That is why lennox's ranking suffers even if he avenges his losses

It's shocking how high he is rated considering the lack of video footage and his average resume.

So?? Spinks lost rounds to plenty of guys.

Again, so what? Does a fighter have to dominate every fight in order to be in the top 40?

Which is just plain senseless, as Jofre is easily a top 5 (at least) all time bantam with one of the strongest cases of anyone for the #1 spot.

    who did jofre beat?

compare his resume to hearns or ike williams

Jofre is like Mayweather. Great boxers but not too deep of a resume to boost

harada is like canto. Pure boxers with no dominant win

Harada has his defining moment in wins over jofre but canto has win against his opponents backyards.

Still i have Harada considerably higher than Canto bec Harada beat a legit top 40 guy and won titles in multiple divisions

if you are tagged as a boxer-puncher, you must be very dominant by winning almost all the rounds against average fighters.

Take the case or leonard, pep, whitaker, jofre and Mayweather.

The frequency with which guys fought back in Joe Brown's day lends itself to more losses being accumulated. I put more store on Brown's world title performances than his losses in non-title fights because he obviously took the former more seriously and they are more an indication of his true worth. That said, losses do count in measuring his level of dominance, as they do every fighters'. The real question is how much weight to lend them.

Pep, Whitaker and Mayweather are not boxer-punchers. They are pure boxers.

I was talking about Jofre. Many pre-1980s boxers are overrated - Harada included.

then flash elorde should be top 80 considering his perfomance against laguna and saddler.

i agree, wilde and jofre are two of the most overrated fighters here.

But wilde's record is just mind blowing so you can make a case for him. But as for jofre...Who did he beat?
