A basic tool in boxing is to keep your weight equally distributed and back foot UP. Ive seen an interesting post on old school concepts about fighter actually keeping their back foot planted to actually get more power in their punches and to compromise balance at all times, seem interesting.....In Broners last fight w/ Gavin he had he back heel planted a decent amount in the fight, thats just a quick example... My question is what are the benefits to this? Any other modern days fighters successfully fight like this?
This is useful when your fighting in a sideways stance (bascically standing in a way where the opponent cant jab your chest without moving).. When you have your heal planted.. you have better mobility and can step back / sit on your punches etc.. try it out and you'll see charley burley in his video against oakland billy smith does this a lot..
Your Backfoot is your Distance, Frontfoot you direction. Everything should be in response to Feel, Balance, proprioceptive ability. For movement, and adaptability. It makes the Body do the Job it was intended, to do move the Head, stopping the Head trying to do the Bodies Job. Being on your Distance, Backleg, gives the Front leg, more adaptability for movement and direction, plus better response mechanics, if the Heel is slightly lifted to move. Plus putting you on your Power Source, the Backfoot. Makes everything work as it should, and Keeps the Coxxy,s, your centre of Gravity where it should be, in not out, Shaking all about, you do the Hoki Coki .
Hmm how do you recommend incrasing your proprioceptive ability and balance I've done work trying to train myself with dumbell / medicine ball balancing under my feet
Its understanding a concept, Eyes cause 95% of injuries. Its finding someone who does,, there are not many Ive found to work with who understand the concept. Its some journey.
