My coach wants me to fight a particular style, its a slick counter punching style. H e has taught me all the moves and he has some very slick skillful fighters. He also wants me to box as a traditional boxer when on the outside because it suits my personal attributes. I can do both of these styles and enjoy it. I also like to be the aggressor and put on pressure, when i become the aggressor my coach sais not to fight like that. Should my coach be telling me what style of fighter i should be or should i work this out for myself. I like to mix up the 3 styles. I have had other trainers tell me to choose my style and become really good at it..
It´s always good to know different styles. It depends on how your oponent box, if you only know one way of fighting, then what happens when you meet someone who is better than you on that type of boxing? You have to be able to fight different styles to upset your oponent, if you can´t change your style or gameplan you are in deep trouble. You need to be able to counterbox, to pressure, to fight. Sometimes even change from southpaw to orthodox or vice versa. Yes, I think you should be very good in one way of fighting, but you should develope your other styles as well. Very important. mix it up.. counter punch to begin with then be the aggresor in the next round,, he wnt expect it and this will throw him off his gameplan! :good
