Fights between two "elite" fighters where both of them put on A+ performances?

    Such fights are very rare indeed. An elite fighter is a fighter who would give the all time greats at that particular weight a very close fight. An elite fighter is capable of putting in A level performances on a regular basis. Juan Diaz is not an elite fighter. Marquez vs. Diaz was a fight in which the two fighters put in A- level performances at the very best. More objectively, in my view, they put in B+ to A- level performances.

    has to be Barrera v Morrales I (although i thought all 3 were quality fights)

    Corrales v Castillo I
    Hearns v Leonard
    Nigel Benn v Gerrald McClellan (maybe not in the elite class for many of you but what a fight)

    **** man... i only read the 1st couple of pages and thought i was being clever posting Corrales v Castillo I.... and then after posting realised there's 2 people just on the 5th page that have said it

    Corrales and Castillo were both considered elite?

    Someone posted earlier Gatti Ward....elite?

    In their respected division they were the elite at the time.

    Compared to Hearns Hagler, no...but in their respected division and at the time of the fight, yes.
