Fights where a legend was not the same after it...or where their prime were literally beaten out of therm...

I'll start with four I think fit this category:

One of the more known examples of that was Trinidad-Vargas. Vargas is a legend to many fight fans across the world in part due to his heart and ferocity in the ring, and had he not taken the fight at 22 years old who knows how good he really could have been. He went on to be in some good fights afterwards, but to me That fight ruined him.

Ali-Foreman - Foreman was mentally broken after that fight, so much so he walked away from the sport until his remarkable comeback.

Great example, and also one of the best fairy tale comebacks ever for a fighter.

He carried on after Ali, destroyed Frazier again, and retired after losing to Jimmy Young I think ,but the Ali fight 100% changed him - although it could be argued he came back better, I actually think old George beats young George!

Joe Frazier's prime was beaten out of him when he defeated Muhammad Ali in 1971.

Sometimes I'll go back and watch that fight and Frazier is just amazing. He was never like that following that fight.

In fact, the beating Frazier took in that win was so profound, his trainer had him fight Terry Daniels and Ron Stander next, admitting that he was almost taking Frazier back to the beginning and restarting his career. They were like the weakest fighters Yank could find and still call them title fights, because he didn't really know what Frazier had left.

He could see something had changed in his fighter, and not for the better.
