Fights that didn't happen: Floyd Mayweather Jr v Antonio Margarito

Margarito was a very strong Welterweight at his peak form, but Mayweather is too good defensively for him. Floyd would have to use some lateral movement though. He couldn't just fight off the ropes as Margarito could smother him in such a situation. I think it would be a pretty straightforward decision for Floyd.

i voted floyd, of the various fights people said he avoided i don't think margarito had much of a chance at all.

 

Then if everybody thinks Money would've won, whywas he running from Margacheato ?

 

Margarito was strong against weaker opposition with poor footwork or guys who wanted to stand and fight him. Mayweather has neither of those disabilities. He would have easily beat Margarito. I always maintained his toughest fight would be and turned out to be Marcos Maidaina over the last decade.

 

Look at what Money May did to Mosley on steroids comming of a crushing demolition of the ''most dangerous WW at the time'' Antonio Margarito ... Margarito didn't have the movement, the ring generalship and the ability to cut off the ring well enough to corner mayweather, and he never backed off, which would have made mayweather look even better landing those counters.

Fight was supposed to happen but Bob Arum wanted to include an extension on Mayweather's contract for the fight to be made, and we all know how it ended, Floyd bought out of his contract. Put the blame at the right place if you want to play that game.

 

Mayweather runs his **** off and potshots to victory.

Margo takes a moral "I tried fighting like a man victory" but ultimately gets outclassed.

 

Antonio '' I'm ready to die in the ring if it's what it take'' Margarito.

Got to give credit to the guy for having steel ***** at the very least.
