    Great post.

    I respect your opinion.

I wish we could have seen it.

Off topic, who do you think would have won if Mike had have fought Hearns?

Ray just edges Mike, in his one fight at jr middle, was good, but not overly impressive. Just does enough with his immense talent to get by.

which idiot voted Leonard stopping McCallum ??
I think any fight at whatever weight goes the distance and the higher the weight the more chance McCallum has

foxy, I've never seen a boxer who can do it all as well as McCallum can.
From the very basic amateur moves to the ones only truly great fighters can get away with, he used every trick in the book.
Of the fab 4 i think duran wouldve been wise to avoid him at all costs.
He'd have beaten hearns but at middle hagler has it and Leonard too cute

McCallum was Duran's mandatory when Roberto took on Hearns instead. Not saying Duran took the safe option in Hearns, but he did take a pass on his mandatory McCallum.

And though Mike never was Hearns's mandatory, Steward made quite clear they wanted no part of McCallum. Otherwise a unification bout at 154 would have made sense, but Tommy moved up to MW instead.

As for this match-up... Really hard to say. No way Ray ko's Mike and can't see Mike stopping SRL either. A tight decision that could go either way.

Yeah, Mike should have moved up years earlier. Only then could he have any reasonable gripe if Hagler didn't give him a shot.

McCallum was a great fighter but Donald Curry was doing quite well against him before he got caught so you'd imagine that Leonard - at his very best - would have the speed and boxing ability to win a decision in a very tough fight..

Curry was probably the closest to Leonard that McCallum faced and he had problems with Curry's blend of speed, precision and power. On the other hand, he was a slow starter and had pretty similar problems with McCrory in the early rounds, so I don't think one should reach too much into the fact that he was behind after 4 rds against Curry.

Not sure, that's a bit far fetched for me also, but agree about McCallum's chances the higher he goes in weight. Around middle, I'd probably say he'd win.

I think Leonard would win, if it were the Kalule version. Hagler version and Mike wins.
