Alex Garcia vs Dixon... cost him a $1.5M payday against Bowe and screwed over his entire career.

    Tommy Hearns v Nigel Benn

Been had just beaten Iran Barkley in one round and was hot stuff. He opted to fight Chris Eubank because he absolutely hated the guy. Thought he'd wipe the floor with him and return to the US for some really big fights. Eubank won.

Damn, I didn't know that, Hearns-Benn would have been a war while it lasted.

Thanks. That was a chaotic time in my life. I still watched the fights, but didn't follow the scene as closely. I knew something big got messed up with Rahman landed that right hand.

What about the original deal where Bowe - Holyfield & Lewis-Ruddock
with the two winners meeting NEXT to decide the real champ ?
Newman said himself in Dallas Tx ' Why risk it all against Lewis wnen fans will buy Dokes & Ferguson with minimum risk" ?? My reply was
"Bowe is not the legitimate champ till hes beaten Lennox" Rock laughed & said " "We got the belts " then walked away

I mentioned the original deal. That was when Lewis originally rejected the offer, then turned around and accepted it, and then Bowe dumped the WBC belt.

But they agreed to terms twice after that, as I mentioned. So when Lewis lost to McCall, it did derail the fight.

Newman practically said that he would never let Bowe fight Lewis because he wasn't confident he could beat hiom. It was a shame really at that time Bowe was in his best shape of his career Would have been a great fight

I love all your inside info.

Bowe vs. Lewis is definitely in the top 10 What If? fights of my lifetime (I'm 42). Maybe top 5. It would have been huge, a true WORLD championship fight in every sense of the word.

You're right, but it was the twisted ankle injury that did for Mike. Watch the tape, until he injured his leg and started hobbling, he was winning and on his way to victory. Then it suddenly changed. Going from memory as typing, but that's how I recall it. BTW that's still a great call from Andrew and still fits in with the thread topic.
