Terry Norris vs Keith Mullings and Kostya Tszyu vs Phillips. Both Norris and Kostya lost their place in line to fight DLH.
David Reid looked like he rebounded nicely until Quirino Garcia caught him late in their fight. That kept him away from big fights and made him continue a rebuilding style comeback which went miserably.
Not a MAJOR fight but there was gonna be a St. Patrick day fight between Pavlik and John Duddy, but Duddy suffered a wicked cut over his eye and didn't look too good even in a win over Walid Smichet... Arum got up and walked out. And said it wasn't gonna happen now.
#7 ranked heavyweight contender Boone Kirkman of Seattle fought in a era of Muhammad Ali, Ken Norton, Joe Frazier, Jerry Quarry, George Foreman, Earnie Shavers, Ron Lyle. . . .He was on a ten fight win streak over 4 years when he took a "tune-up" fight in 1974 against Memphis Al Jones. Boone dropped Jones twice in the first, twice in the second and another in the third when a wild right hand floored Kirkman knocking him down and out as his head slammed on the the ring canvas.. . . .While he waited for his turn at a title fight a tune up bout ruined him.. . . .Boone's last appearance in the ring was in Eugene, Oregon in exhibition versus Gerry Cooney in 1983.. . . .To this day Boone Kirkman is still the most popular boxer in Northwest history and the only fighter to sell out Seattle's Coliseum (Key Arena) capacity of 14,000+ in numerous fights.
The ankle injury was a major factor but from what I remember even before the injury Williams after being initially wobbled was getting used to the power and firing back, Mike may still have won but by that point in his career after the first 2 or 3 rounds he got gassed fairly quick.
Yeah good answer and you're right--he was always going to lose by that stage--moreover he was so shot he did his foot in due to bad balance and footwork. He wasn't up to the top level physical rigours by this point. After re-watching; a respectful concession..... Well done, great reply mate.
