Fights That Probably Never Should Have Happened...

I have a great deal of respect for Margo for taking that fight. They interviewed him before that fight and he straight up said Williams was a tougher matchup than Cotto. He could've easily ducked Williams, and fought Cotto. No one would've batted an eye. Instead, he decided to protect his pride and took the fight.

Some other fights that shouldn't have happened;

Mosley vs. Wright

Pavlik vs. Hopkins

Cotto vs. Clottey

Trinidad vs. Hopkins

Marquez vs. John

 

Any Mosley fight at 154, he was even small for 147 and he just moved up because Oscar beckoned him. It seemed like he had little man syndrome when he got there, he wouldn't accept that he was too small for those guys.

 

Trinidad-Hopkins are you having a laugh? that fight was a unification fight to find the undisputed middleweight champion,dont tell me you think Tito against Roy Jones would be better.

 

Williams was the mandatory so that's why ,Margarito fought him.

You are basically saying no one should fight Paul Williams:huh

 

Here's where I'm coming from with that one. Jones was considered the no.1 fighter in the world at the time and many thought he was unbeatable. Trinidad wasn't far behind. That would've been a huge payday for Trinidad and he would've been in a no lose situation. Hopkins was a bit of an unknown, but he was a stylistic nightmare for Trinidad.

Trinidad had no shot of winning that fight. Jones even advised him not to take the fight. So Trinidad ended up fighting a guy he couldn't beat, but was the overhelming favorite and was fully expected to win due to the public's lack of exposure to Hopkins. That's a bad combination. Trinidad ended up getting pounded, lost out on the Jones payday, fought some bum, and then retired. He should've never taken that fight and he should've never fought Wright either.
